I was raised in a Christian home and attended church faithfully - as it was never an option with my parents; I grew up Southern Baptist. Following a James Robison crusade in my hometown of El Dorado, Arkansas, I received Christ's gift of salvation.
I continued to grow in my spiritual walk. During the height of the charismatic renewal in the 1970's, my mother received a miracle healing after she invited some very "different" friends over to our house and they "laid hands on her and prayed the prayer of faith, in Jesus Name". Shortly thereafter she received the Baptism of the Holy Spirit; the rest of our family would follow in her footsteps with our own individual Pentecostal experiences within the next two years.
At the age of 16 I walked the aisle of my church and committed my life to full time ministry. I wasn't sure at the time what path that meant I would take. I would learn in the years to follow that I would eventually become a pastor with a heart burning toward missions, but it took time for that passion to occur.
I decided to leave and go to Bible College @ Christ for the Nations Institute CFNI) and did so the fall of 1982. 5 days after I arrived I had to be flown home as I had become violently sick, lost 35 lbs., and nearly lost my eyesight. I was diagnosed with Type 1 (insulin dependent) Diabetes. I returned to CFNI the following year and immediately joined the worship team Signs of Love who ministered weekends at deaf and hearing impaired services. In January of 1984 I was selected to be part of another traveling ministry from the school called Living Praise (LP). It was in LP that I met the love of my life who would in 1985 become my wife.
In the years since, we have been very active in lay ministry. I eventually became a funeral service professional (for 13 years) and then decided in 2004 to return to college and complete my B.S. in Church Ministries though SAGU. I have served as an Associate Pastor for 4 years with multiple resp.
