Personal Faith Narrative
Dr. Dawn R. Butler
My faith journey began at birth as I was born into the home of a young pastor and his wife. I personally come to a faith in God at about age nine during an invitation given by my mother during a summer Vacation Bible School. During the high school years, I was very active assisting my father in his ministry with children’s church director, Sunday School teacher, bus ministry director, Vacation Bible School director, and other related positions.
After college, I continued serving the Lord by being a teacher in both Christian and public school. I married in 1984, and my husband was Presbyterian. Throughout our married life, we have compromised on the style and type of church we attend together.
I eventually move into Christian school administration while raising my three children.
I continue to grow in my spiritual walk. I love to do Bible studies two mornings a week with my school staff. I believe abiding in the Word of God is the key to true spiritual success and peace.
